MAKO Spearguns Competition Fiberglass Fins (Green Camo)

A message from Dano:
"I guarantee these fins and foot pockets to be the finest fins/foot pockets available. Before producing these fins, I met with several fin factories around the world. The factory I chose is the same factory that also makes fins and foot pockets for 2 of the most highly respected freedive gear companies in the world. It gives me great pleasure to offer such high quality fins. And because we sell direct to you the diver, we can do it for less."

These fins were designed with recommendations, feedback and testing provided by some of the most well respected spearfishermen and freedive instructors in the sport.

Thanks to Freedive Instructors and Competitive Spearfisherman, Brian Pucella, Bobby Kim and Scott Turgeon, we proudly offer what we think are the best fiberglass fins on the market. (Thanks Bri, Bobby, Scott)

MAKO Spearguns LONG Blades are 80cm long and considered industry standard length for experienced freedivers.

  • Measurement without foot pockets: 80cm long x 20cm wide
  • Measurement with foot pockets: up to 98cm long x 20cm wide

MAKO Spearguns EXTRA LONG Blades are 85cm long and a product of an increasing trend for longer blades.

  • Measurement without foot pockets: 85cm long x 20cm wide
  • Measurement with foot pockets: up to 103cm long x 20cm wide

Also available in varying stiffness and colors, these blades are hand made in South Africa by experienced craftsman, using only the best material available.

Take your freediving to the next level with this pair of high performance MAKO Competition FG (Fiberglass Composite) freedive blades. These blades offer the performance of carbon, but are much more durable, thus offering the performance and durability required by serious freedivers and spearfishermen.

Our fins are customized and assembled specifically to your order - Choose your foot pocket size, blade length and blade stiffness using the information below, then we'll build a set of fins specifically for you.

Also available in black and camo blue.

I have both the 80 and 85cm fiberglass blades with Mako foot pockets. I like the 80cm blades for all-around use, and the 85cm blades for blue water hunting and line diving/teaching. The foot pockets are the most comfortable I've tried - so comfortable that I use them without socks. I have a few other pairs of fins, including several carbon fiber models in other brands, but I always find myself reaching for the Makos first. I love these fins.

Selecting the proper fin length:

Some divers dive well over 200 feet deep with our LONG blades (80cm long). While others, diving the same depth, prefer our EXTRA LONG blades (85cm long).

Selecting blade length is a personal choice based on many factors, such as the type of diving, diving style, physical make up and even the divers' personality.

Divers with a slower, more rhythmic kick sequence (sometimes called a lazy kick) tend to like the longer 85cm blades.

Conversely, divers who are a bit more aggressive in their approach to diving and in their personality traits, or for those who possess a faster kick sequence would prefer the standard long fins measuring 80cm long.

Selecting the proper fin stiffness:

In selecting the proper fin stiffness, there are many variables to take into consideration such as a divers weight, divers strength, type of diving and conditions in which the diving will be done. The most standard method is selecting fin stiffness based on the diver's weight and strength.

Because a softer blade is rapidly becoming the preferred blade among freedivers, our soft blades are by far the most popular. For very strong divers and big guys, we also carry a medium stiffness.

SOFT blades are recommended for small to medium size divers and are clearly the most popular. Any diver who does not dive frequently also like these blades.

MEDIUM blades are for larger divers with strong legs.

Note: If you have any questions regarding size, blade length or blade stiffness selection, please feel free to call us. We are happy to help.

Our fins are sold by the pair. If you ever loose a fin, MAKO will sell just one fin. Being so heavily invested in unmatched customer service, we are one of the only companies that offer this.

These fins are great. Extra long and they really propel me through the water with minimal effort.

Great sturdy performers November 7, 2017
Reviewer: Dustin Miller from Lake Oswego, OR United States
I used these in pool and open water for testing out in the field.  They really shine in open water with a 3mm pair of booties on.  Durable fiberglass is a must for NW waters.

Great Fins September 14, 2017
Reviewer: TREVOR WOODS from Kailua-Kona Hawaii
My first set of free diving fins. So far they are awesome. A much needed upgrade from my scuba fins.  I followed the size chart which indicated me for a size 10-11 with 2mm socks.
i think with socks is the key here.  they came and were way to loose for bare feet but probably would have been good with 3-5 mm socks. However this is not what i wanted and so i sent them back and as always was treated very kindly and had no issues for the exchange.  I even had them send them back to a new address in Hawaii. I paid the difference and it was a great exchange.  Overall fins are 8/10 (only because I've only used them 1 time so far. Service 10/10 all day!

Relief! September 8, 2017
Reviewer: chad mathis from Crandall, TX United States
I have been using a pair of Omer winter fins and Esclapez black fins. You both are plastic with the Omers being soft and the Esclapez black are very stiff. I thought I had the bases covered. But my new Mako medium stiffness fiberglass fans are amazingly better! I kind of figured the medium stiffness Mako competition fiberglass fins would fall in between my other two pair and maybe they do. But they are so much better in different that you can't even compare them. Instead of having three different sets of fans for different conditions I will be giving away my old fence. I cannot even imagine using them after using the Makos! They are that much better than anything I've ever used before.
