Expert Spearfisherman & Blogger Jeremy Foell

Jeremy Foell - Expert Spearfisherman & Blogger at www.spearbig.com

Overall, I would definitely recommend this gun for anyone who is in the market for a new speargun. I have used many different products from MAKO and have been completely satisfied with them. Not to mention they have one of the best customer service around in the spearfishing industry.

- Jeremy Foell

The MAKO Spearguns Predator Pro 2G (2nd Generation) is a totally up-armored Predator Pro. The Predator 2G handles are now made of the same unbreakable glass filled nylon that our MAKO Oceanic speargun handles are made from. No other handle on the market is stronger than these two handles.

Predator Pro 2G spearguns are built to order and come packed with features such as:

INCLUDES: Stainless Steel Trigger Parts

Stainless steel is far more durable and stronger than plastic. Our Predator Pro 2G has a stainless steel trigger which is encased in a polymer cover. Not only are our triggers made of stainless steel, all other components in our trigger mechanisms, such as the sear and line release are also made of stainless steel.

INCLUDES: Sharkfin Tab Spear with flopper

SPEARS WITH SHARKFIN TABS ARE FAR SUPERIOR! Spears with “Sharkfin Tabs” are 50% stronger than spears with “Notches”. Spears with “Sharkfin Tabs” are available on all MAKO guns at no extra charge!

INCLUDES: Open Muzzle at No Additional Charge

  • Open Muzzles that accept Hand Tied Bands are the number one choice among experienced spearfishermen.
  • Open Muzzles CAN accept the stronger Sharkfin Tab Spears instead of the weaker notched spears.
  • You CANNOT use Sharkfin Spears with Closed Muzzles.
  • Open muzzles accept Hand Tied Bands so you don’t have to use Screw On Bands.

INCLUDES: Barrel with full length Integrated rail

All MAKO guns include a “Fully Integrated Aluminum Rail” incorporated all the way down the length of the barrel. This “Fully Integrated Aluminum Rail” adds enormous strength to the barrel and guides the spear the entire length of the barrel.

INCLUDES: Soft Dyneema Wishbones

Hands down….. South African Soft Dyneema Wishbones are safer and more dependable. Ask any experienced spearo what type of wishbones he or she uses. I am sure they will tell you the South African Soft Dyneema Wishbones are by far the best choice. All MAKO guns include soft South African Soft Dyneema Wishbones.

INCLUDES: The NEW 2G Ergonomic “Built Like a Tank” Handle

“BUILT LIKE A TANK”!! The “MAKO Oceanic Handle” has been said to be “Built Like a Tank”. And now, the new Predator 2G (2nd Generation) handles have been completely up armored and are now just as strong as the Oceanic Guns.

INCLUDES: Hand Tied Bands

MAKO uses the best PRIMELINE material for our HAND TIED Bands! Ask any experienced spearfisherman which bands are best, and all will tell you HAND TIED Bands are by far the best choice. Hand Tied Bands allow you to adjust the band strength to meet your specific needs. Women or younger spearos can opt for longer bands for easier loading, while stronger and more experienced spearos can shorten the bands for increased power.

INCLUDES: Thicker Spear at No Additional Charge

Spears on MAKO guns are thicker so they do not break or bend like thinner spears. The chart to the right clearly shows how thick and strong the MAKO South African Sharkfin Spears really are.

INCLUDES: Loading Butt at no additional charge

Ask anybody who has loaded a gun without a loading butt and they will be the first to tell you that they wish they had one. All MAKO Spearguns include a loading butt which makes loading a MAKO gun quick and painless.

INCLUDES: Shock Cord and Swivel Clip

All MAKO guns include a high quality South African Shock Cord w/ Swivel clip.

INCLUDES: Shooting Line

Fully rigged with super strong abrasion resistant 300 lb mono.

INCLUDES: 3 Year No Questions Asked Warranty

3 year warrantyAll MAKO Spearguns include an unconditional 3 Year Warranty on all guns. No questions asked. If your gun falls out of your pick up truck while driving down the freeway, we will repair it or replace it at no charge!

The shooting distances in this chart are approximate and based on (the length of the gun plus the length of the shooting line plus the length of the spear) grip to tip of the spear after the gun is fired. (From your hand to spear tip). These distances do not take into account the required distance needed to penetrate a fish in order to engage the flopper.

NOTE: When rigged with a double wrap, the spear might begin to arc before the spear reaches the end of the shooting line. Band length will affect the actual distance and trajectory. Remember, your bands should never be shorter than the recommended band lengths as noted in the “instructional info / band length chart” page.

Awesome speargun August 23, 2015
Reviewer: Dom from South China Sea/Pacific Ocean
Pros:
I have taken this gun out about 8x and it never disappoints as far as performance goes. Lots of dead fish.
Con:
Probably around the 3rd time I took it out, the shaft started to rust. Minimal spots along the whole shaft.  Mind you, I always rinse all my gear after a dive. After the 4th time taking it, the whole shaft was rusty as soon as it dried out of the water. Stupid fast rusty.  Ive had to sand/oil it down prior to every dive after that. I have a 110 and a friend of mine has a 90, but he doesn't have that problem. Idk if that makes a difference.

50CM Single Band 16MM August 23, 2015
Reviewer: CabKing65 from Nor-Cal
I own the 60 Cm Mako Railgun with a Double Band 14mm.  It has been a Great gun but I wanted to get a 2nd Gun to Loan out to My Friends and New Diver's.  I fig  50cm with A single band would cut down on Load time and make it little less Stressful to Rig up....

In the End !!!!     I  I have been using the 50CM Mako as My primary Gun now. I feel the Single Band is more Accurate added bonus of Less Swing weight!!!   Try a 50Cm Mako Rail-gun Single 16 MM band  if you are in the Northern California  Rocky Water's ..
You will for sure have a Blast !!!!!!

solid speargun August 4, 2015
Reviewer: Cody French from Vance, AL United States
Unfortunately I have not been able to go on but 1 trip with this gun. It did perform quite nicely and the 16mm rubbers are very strong. While loading the gun I had a little trouble with the band's not staying positioned in the muzzle correctly due the this type of muzzle design. It's really not a big deal, I just need a bit more practice loading the gun.

Excellent Speargun! July 27, 2015
Reviewer: Watdogg from Massachusetts
I've been using my 90cm open rail for two months now and absolutely love it! Simple, effective, and durable. Easy to load. Not sure if it floats without it, but with the optional butt pad on there it stays on the surface of the water after spearing fish which makes it much easier to handle your kill. The firing mechanism is also very simple, and the safe/fire switch is in a perfect location. No complaints at all!!!
