Men's Yamamoto Ocean Blue 3D Camo 2-Piece Open Cell Wetsuit

Don't let the low price fool you! Yamamoto Neoprene is the best and most expensive neoprene in the world. The reason we can offer these high quality MAKO Spearguns Yamamoto wetsuits for such a low price is because we sell direct to divers, not through dive shops ( See the MAKO DIRECT Story!)

Are you ready for a bold statement? Then here it is:

NO OTHER SPEARFISHING WETSUIT OFFERS MORE STRETCH, COMFORT, WARMTH AND DURABILITY

Yes. That is a bold statement. But, here's why we can say it:

Yamamoto of Japan neoprene material is regarded as the highest quality wetsuit material among advanced freedivers.

Two years ago, MAKO Spearguns teamed up with YAMAMOTO Neoprene of Japan to make some of the highest quality 2 piece open cell spearfishing suits in the world. The result was our Yamamoto #39 Green Camo 2 piece wetsuits and MAKO quickly became known as a supplier of some of the highest quality wetsuits in the industry, providing superior warmth, comfort and durability.

Our wetsuits are certified by Tomizo Yamamoto (President of YAMAMOTO Corporation) and me (Dano Krahling, President of MAKO Spearguns) to be Genuine YAMAMOTO Neoprene.

Genuine YAMAMOTO Neoprene Certificate

Until recently, it was impossible to improve upon this suit.

Then, a new outer material became available which offers 30 percent more stretch than any other outer material available. We call it Yamamoto "Mega Stretch" and it takes wetsuit technology to a whole new level.

Serious freedivers are especially quick to recognize the increased lung capacity this material provides. Increased lung capacity means increased dive time and peak performance.

The new MAKO Spearguns Yamamoto #39 Ocean Blue 3D Camo 2 pc open cell suit includes:

  • Yamamoto #39 Neoprene: The finest neoprene material in the world.
  • Integrated Ergonomic Hood: Ensures maximum warmth.
  • Knee pads: Real padded material sewn on (not a glued on piece of rubber)
  • Chest loading pad: Real padded material sewn on
  • All seams: Glued and blind stitched for durability
  • Jacket: With integrated hood
  • Integrated knife pocket: This is a huge safety feature.
  • Beaver Tail: Double snaps
  • Selectable Bottoms: High Waist or Farmer Johns
  • Yamamoto "Mega Stretch" Camo Outer Material: This is the improved outer material which makes this the best suit available.
  • Thicknesses: Available in 3mm, 5mm, 7mm

HIGH WAIST BOTTOMS OR FARMER JOHNS?
High Waist Bottons or Farmer Johns? You decide. Each suit comes with the Farmer John Bottoms for added warmth. However, if you prefer the High Waist Pants, no problem. We deliberately placed the upper seam in the appropriate spot to allow you, the diver to remove the shoulder straps by following (cutting) just above the strategically placed seam for a perfect and professional looking cut that will not fray. But, don't throw away the newly created tank top. You might want to save it for a chilly day.

NOTE: Open cell suits are 20% warmer than closed cell suits. For example, a 5 mm open cell suit will be as warm or warmer than a 7mm closed cell (nylon lined) suit. The benefits include greater warmth and comfort with less bulk and less lead required to control buoyancy. Serious freedivers prefer these suits because they spend much more time in the water than bottom-time restricted scuba divers.

NOTE: Open cell suits are not put on the same way as closed cell suits. Putting on an open cell suit is fast and easy. However, because the inside of an open cell suit is not lined, you must use a lubricant sprayed inside the suit. We recommend " Suit Slide"a scent free, non petroleum based lubricant designed for Spearfishermen. Once applied, putting on an open cell suit (unlined) is actually faster than putting on a closed cell (lined) suit.

Also, check out Suit Fresh - the first product to clean, remove odors and condition your suit all in one. It is made with organic ingredients. It eliminates odors, uric acids, sweat, salts and sunscreen. EZ sprayer to make cleaning wetsuits fast, effective and easy. Suit FRESH does not require pre-mixing or a multiple step cleaning process.

    5mm Wetsuit

Posted by KC on Feb 7th 2024

Excellent wetsuit. I bought this for scuba diving after using my old 3mm that I would use with extra rash guards and skins but was still cold. I should have bought this Mako 5mm years ago. I have used it twice for a total of 4 dives in 72-74 degrees water, which might not be cold for some but scuba diving for 75 plus minutes can get chilly and this wetsuit kept me completely warm for both dives and even while I was on the boat. You definitely have to use lots of the suit lube (I bought a bottle of the Mako brand) to get it on and taking it off is a little bit of a struggle but it was easier the second time and hopefully will get easier with more practice. I’m 5’10” 150lbs and the medium fits me perfectly. I was definitely warm while other divers said they started getting cold with their wetsuits. I definitely recommend this wetsuit. It seems well constructed and well worth the money.

And I'm not even a spearo... Slips on with ease and looks great. Haven't visited the ocean yet, but soon... Definitely consider the same suit if and when this one of mine ever gets old and "grey". Thank you mako group!

Can’t say enough good about the customer service! They have been quick to answer every question I’ve had. Due to COVID-19, haven’t yet had the chance to try the new suit. Thank you all so much for all your help. I’ll be back:)

Well constructed great camo, great fit

Posted by William Kennedy on Feb 2nd 2020

I am 5’10” 190 pounds and the large top and large bottom fit perfectly. This is my first open cell suit and I love the fit, warmth, comfort and flexibility of the suit. So much better comfort than my scuba wetsuit. I usually hate wearing a hood but this design fits like a second skin without feeling “tight” or restricted. I am using the Mako lube, I used it concentrated before I read the directions that you add water. It makes the suit slide right on with pulling out my body hair. I keep the regular cap on the bottle and store it with the sprayer in a ziplock in my Dive bag.

    Perfect wetsuit

Posted by Benoit on Dec 13th 2019

I just came back from a week long free diving trip in the cayman and got to use this wetsuit for the first time. It was awesome! The fit was perfect (better than my custom 5mm) and the suit was super flexible and comfortable. 3 mm was perfect for the 82 degrees water since a lot of my time was spent being static in the water. Thanks Mako

    Nice quality and awesome service.

Posted by Alex Codreanu on Dec 13th 2019

I have not yet dove with the 3mm suit, but when I tried it on, it fits very well and the quality of this suit is really nice. This is my second suit from Mako. My other one is a 7mm and the comfort that suit provides despite the thickness is out of this world. I used the 7 mm in 38°F water and did not feel cold at all. I also ordered a 3mm suit for my brother, which I order by accident in the wrong size. Mako has exchanged it for me free of charge within a week. Thank you for the great deals and the awesome service!

This is my second mako suit, even with sitting on sharp muscles barnacles and jetty rocks I got 3 seasons out of my last one. Just make sure you lube up good to put it on and rinse after every dive
