Gun Cleaning (Predator Pro Railgun)

All Mako Speargun trigger mechanisms are made with the best material available, stainless steel. Each mechanism includes a stainless steel trigger, a stainless steel sear and a stainless steel line release. Additionally, the Mako trigger mechanisms are produced in a cartridge design for fast removal and installation, thus making cleaning and servicing very easy.

Even though stainless steel components are used in the production of the Mako trigger mechanism, sand or foreign debris can get inside the mechanism. Normally, a simple rinsing in fresh water will do the trick. However, in some instances, the trigger mechanism (cartridge) must be removed for deep cleaning.

Like any equipment, with the proper care and maintenance, Mako Spearguns (Railguns) will provide a lifetime of dependability and enjoyment.

The following steps will guide you through this process.

STEP 1
Removing the safety switch.

a) Identify the (F) fire side of the safety button on the left side of the gun and the (S) safety side of the safety button on the right side of the gun.

b) Using a flat head screw driver, simply pry off the (S) cap on the right side of the gun.

c) Then, remove the other side of the safety button by pressing on the shaft.

d) NOTE: PLEASE SEE THE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS BELOW ON HOW TO PUT THE SAFETY CAP (S) BACK ON DURING THE RE-ASSEMBLY PROCESS.

STEP 2
Removing the loading butt

Using the awl, remove the loading butt by pushing out the retaining pin that holds it in place. This stainless steel retaining pin serves 2 purposes. It holds the loading butt in place and also holds in place the trigger mechanism cartridge.

STEP 3
Removing the cartridge

Now you are ready to remove the cartridge by pulling up and back at the same time.

STEP 4
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and inspect all components

STEP 5
Re-install cartridge by inserting front end in first.

STEP 6
Install the (F) fire side of the safety switch on the left side of the gun with the (F) facing upwards.

STEP 7
Installing the (S) safety cap

a) NOTE: Before installing the (S) safety cap, make sure the shape of the nipple (on the (S) cap) matches the shape of the hole in the shaft of the (F) side of the safety switch.

b) Once the nipple is properly lined up with the hole, apply pressure to the (F) side and tap the (S) side until it snaps in place.

STEP 8
Re-install loading butt.
