Answer: Open Muzzles are much more popular than Closed Muzzles. We offer Open Muzzles at no additional charge.

  • Open muzzles CAN accept the stronger sharkfin tab spears. Closed muzzles only accept notched spears that are not as strong as Sharkfin Tab Spears.
  • Open muzzles accept "Hand Tied Bands"‚ with "Soft Dyneema Wishbones". Lesser spearguns with closed muzzles often come with "screw on bands" with "metal wishbones" which are not as popular.
  • Open muzzles also are easier and faster to load and they are also quieter.

Most divers choose open muzzles, but the choice is yours at no additional charge.

Question 4: Does the gun have a "Full Length and fully integrated Rail" built into the barrel or just a plastic support?

Answer: All MAKO guns include a Full length and fully integrated rail built into each barrel.

Higher quality spearguns, such as MAKO Spearguns, have a Fully Integrated Aluminum Rail built into the barrel. The Integrated Rail supports the spear the whole length of the gun, and makes the barrel much stronger.

Some guns don't have an Integrated Rail and instead have a small plastic support which does not support the spear the whole length of the barrel, nor does this small plastic support add any additional strength to the barrel.
