Competition Fiberglass Fins for Women

A message from Dano:
"I guarantee these fins and foot pockets to be the finest fins/foot pockets available. Before producing these fins, I met with several fin factories around the world. The factory I chose is the same factory that also makes fins and foot pockets for 2 of the most highly respected freedive gear companies in the world. It gives me great pleasure to offer such high quality fins. And because I sell direct to you the diver, I can do it for less."

Question: Does MAKO Spearguns offer smaller size foot pockets w/ high quality freedive blades for serious women freedivers?

You asked for it, ladies... And we proudly delivered.

In the past, women with smaller feet did not have access to high quality freedive fins that actually fit. After recognizing this need by demanding lady freedivers we went to work and we are pleased to announce the arrival of the MAKO "Lady Freediver" Freedive Fins.

Made for women who's feet are as small as (womens 5), the MAKO Competition Freediver foot pockets are produced using varying stiffness compounds to achieve the ultimate, in both comfort and transfer of energy and fit a wide variety of bent (angled) blades.

Because these foot pockets accept interchangeable blades, you can select from a wide variety of our high quality freedive blades which will take your freediving deeper than ever before.

Selecting the proper fin length:

Some divers dive well over 200 feet deep with our LONG blades (80cm long). While others, diving the same depth, prefer our EXTRA LONG blades (85cm long).

Selecting blade length is a personal choice based on many factors, such as the type of diving, diving style, physical make up and even the divers' personality.

Divers with a slower, more rhythmic kick sequence (sometimes called a lazy kick) tend to like the longer 85cm blades.

Conversely, divers who are a bit more aggressive in their approach to diving and in their personality traits, or for those who possess a faster kick sequence would prefer the standard long fins measuring 80cm long.

MAKO LONG blades 80CM LONG are considered industry standard length for experienced freedivers.

  • Measurement without foot pockets: 80cm long x 20cm wide
  • Measurement with foot pockets: up to 98cm long x 20cm wide

MAKO EXTRA LONG blades 85CM LONG are a product of an increasing trend for longer blades.

  • Measurement without foot pockets: 85cm long x 20cm wide
  • Measurement with foot pockets: up to 103cm long x 20cm wide

Selecting the proper fin stiffness:

In selecting the proper fin stiffness, there are many variables to take into consideration such as a divers weight, divers strength, type of diving and conditions in which the diving will be done. The most standard method is selecting fin stiffness based on the diver's weight and strength.

Because a softer blade is rapidly becoming the preferred blade among freedivers, our soft blades are by far the most popular. For very strong ladies, we also carry a medium.

SOFT blades are recommended for small to medium size divers and are clearly the most popular. Any diver who does not dive frequently also like these blades.

MEDIUM blades are for divers with strong legs.

Blade Choices (soft and medium):

Soft blades February 1, 2018
Reviewer: mel
I went much faster in these than expected I must say and did not feel fatigued even after a few hours in the water. I have no idea what size my foot is since my shoes vary from 7.5-10! I do have a wide foot though, that is for sure. I got the size 6-7 which fits fine with the 2mm sock. A bit loose barefoot and just a teeny bit of squeeze midfoot with the sock.

Great fins! August 27, 2016
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Palm harbor Fl, FL United States
I bought these for my wife because they were the only long fins I could find that had small enough foot pockets to fit her. She does a mix of scuba and free diving and now uses these for both because they are so comfortable and provide good power without wearing out her ankles. Would definitely recommend and the fit is true to size when wearing a 3 mil sock.

I absolutely love my Mako Fins February 5, 2015
Reviewer: carla hanson from Costa Mesa, CA United States
As a professional freedive instructor and competitor , I have had the opportunity to try many fins and Makos' are my favorite. They are comfortable, responsive, and easy to use for divers of all levels of ability. I have lent them to my students and they have preferred them to the fins they were currently using. I highly recommend Mako fins for usability, durability, and style. I get so many compliments on my Makos and girls always like that !
