Rigging your gun with a “Line Release Rig” is commonly used when hunting big game in deep water with a float line and float. It is designed to allow the spear (attached to a float/float line line via the shooting line) to be completely separated from the gun. After the spear separates from the gun, the hunter fights the fish from the surface. Additionally, this method allows the hunter to hold onto the gun by sliding one arm through the bands. This gives the hunter a method of defense against sharks.
STEP 2
Remove spear from trigger mechanism and using a double barrel crimp, attach mono to spear (see basic crimping techniques). (see basic crimping techniques)
STEP 3
Re -insert spear into trigger mechanism and route mono up the barrel, through muzzle (if using a closed muzzle) or over tab (if using an open muzzle). Then, route mono back down barrel, and using a 2nd double barrel crimp, form a loop at the ½ way mark previously made on the barrel. If a longer shooting line is desired, the mono can be wrapped around line release, then back up and around muzzle notch and back down the barrel to the 1/2 way mark previously made on your barrel.
STEP 4
Attach "shock cord clip" to newly created loop in mono and connect the other end of shock cord to the line release..

STEP 6
Route the other end of 10 ft bungie through the loop on the shock cord and pull tight to eliminate slack.

STEP 7
Attach the other end of the 10 ft. bungie to floatline. The other end of the floatline is attached to the float
